Micah Vaughn Winslow arrived in Heaven on March 25, 2013.

He was born Dec. 22, 2001, in Kansas City, Mo., and lived in Independence, Mo. He was a 4th grader at Glendale Elementary School. Micah’s church home was Englewood Church, where he was active in Royal Rangers.

He is survived by his adoptive parents, Michael and Deborah Winslow; three sisters, Sarah (Donald) Schreck of Kansas City, and Makayla and Kaitlyn, of the home; one brother, Aaron (Kelsey) of Independence; one great-grandmother; eight grandparents; many aunts, uncles, cousins. Birth mother, Melissa Schimke; birth father, Andre (Kim) McDonald; half brothers, Devin, Phillip, Brendon, Christian, and many other family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March, 29 Englewood Church, 10628 E. Winner Rd., Independence, MO 64052. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. A separate private service is planned for his birth family. Micah has been cremated. In consideration of family needs, gifts may be made through Englewood Church in care of Micah Winslow. Donations may also be made to Lifeworks Family Treatment Group of Kansas City in honor of Micah.
