Students to represent Missouri in event
A local team will represent Missouri in the Global Finals of Destination Imagination after placing second in the state competition in April.
The improv team of Maude Ashby, Anna Cox, Dominieke Neasham and Glenn Winfrey will be traveling to Knoxville, Tenn. this month to compete in the Global Finals of Destination Imagination, an international creative problem-solving competition. Ashby, Cox and Winfrey are freshman at the Fort Osage High School. Neasham is a freshman at Wellington-Napoleon High School.
Destination Imagination is a worldwide creative problem solving program that encourages students to work as a team in innovative ways. In their improv challenge, the team members had seven minutes to create a story out of their research on the threatened gopher tortoise, and the stock character, a wise old man. During their five-minute skit, they uncover an unimpressive superpower that they use to assist in saving the gopher tortoise from the wise old man’s southern relatives.
