The Lee’s Summit High School Science Olympiad Team placed fifth at the Missouri Science Olympiad competition at the University of Missouri-Columbia. A total of 32 teams from throughout Missouri participated in the competition.

The Lee’s Summit High School Science Olympiad Team placed fifth at the Missouri Science Olympiad competition at the University of Missouri-Columbia. A total of 32 teams from throughout Missouri participated in the competition.

The team’s fifth place award included $2,500 in scholarship money for team members. The team includes Kyle Adams, Alexis Bair, Brette Borchert, Alec Boren, Jozianne Brennan, Sarah Bussen, Avery Cates, Emily Dowdle, Alexis Forbes, Kyle Henson, Emerson Lentz, Clint Ott, Nick Wickline and Yesen Zhou. The coaches are Christine Peachee and Laura Tewes.

Students earning medals and ribbons at the state contest were:

Disease detective – Emily Dowdle and Kyle Adams, fifth place.

Egg-O-Naut – Clint Ott and Jozianne Brennan, first place.

Experimental design – Alexis Bair, Sarah Bussen and Kyle Henson, first place.

Forensics – Emily Dowdle and Kyle Adams, fifth place.

Fossils – Alexis Bair and Sarah Bussen, fourth place.

It’s About Time – Emerson Lentz and Kyle Henson, second place.

Mission possible – Clint Ott, second place.
