Independence police were involved in two separate chases Friday afternoon, one resulting in an apprehension.

The first chase started at Crysler Avenue and College Street at 3 p.m. According to the Independence Police Department, police officers attempted to stop the vehicle on traffic charges, but the vehicle did not stop.

The suspect bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot at U.S. 24 and Grand Street. Police apprehended the male driver a short time later.

The second chase began at Missouri 291 and Interstate 70, also around 3 p.m. The driver in this chase also refused to stop after police tried to pull the driver over for traffiic-related issues.

The chase ended when the driver hit the city limits of Kansas City. Independence police said Kansas City chose not to actively pursue the driver because of the high speeds involved.
