A historic Union Pacific train is set to make a brief appearance in Eastern Jackson County in a few weeks.

The company is celebrating its sesquicentennial this year, and “The Shiloh Limited” will make its way from Cheyenne, Wyo., to Marion, Ark., in late March. It’s scheduled to stop in Kansas City, Kan., on March 25 and remain there the next day, though without a public display. It will stop briefly at Union Station on March 27 and then at 9 a.m. head east on the tracks that roll through northern Independence and Buckner on its way to a stop at Malta Bend, Mo.

The company maintains two old steam engines in Cheyenne, and it uses them periodically on good-will tours. Both have visited the area in the last couple of years.
