To the editor:
Blue Springs District 1 had no, or very scant, effective representation on the City Council for many years. There have been seat warmers behind the district placard, whose only reason for being there was their own self-interest for higher office or a desire to enhance their economic profile in Blue Springs.
Jim May is a council person whose total focus is District 1 and Blue Springs moving forward as a better place to live for our families and better place to do business. Jim has no aspirations to take the place of Mayor Ross or be a Jefferson City commuter. He’s a local guy who thinks locally!
Jim is realistic about the current economic conditions. He understands that big projects that require millions of dollars from the state of Missouri or federal government are on hold or on a very slow track. He understands homegrown mom-and-pop or entrepreneurial businesses are Blue Springs’ best bet to achieve sustainable growth and help fill empty storefronts and available office space and provide economic opportunity to residents.
Jim May and District 1 are a good fit. He’s one of us!
