Tuyen Thanh Thuy Nguyen, Taylor P. B. Comstock, Zackery C. Anderson and Jon Ekey, have been selected as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Tuyen Thanh Thuy Nguyen, Taylor P. B. Comstock, Zackery C. Anderson and Jon Ekey, have been selected as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Nguyen is a senior at Van Horn High School and has been named to the honor roll throughout high school, is a member of the National Honor Society; participates with the robotics team and is involved with Science Olympiad.

In addition, Nguyen is a member of the Spanish Club and tutors.

In the future, Nguyen would like to graduate from high school, attend a four-year university and become an OB/GYN. Nguyen’s mother is Kim D. Tran.

Comstock is a senior at Truman High School and is a recipient of the Bingham Fine Arts Award; has been nominated for the National Society of High School Scholars; is section leader in the orchestra and choir; was named to the KC Metro All-District Orchestra for three years; was named to the Missouri All-State Choir for two years; is an Eagle Scout and was a member of the Boy Scout Camp Dining Hall staff in 2007.

In addition, he is involved with private study in cello and voice; has been in school theater production; is in the church choir and is a member of Truman’s Chamber Choir.

Comstock plans to attend either the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music or the Curtis Institute of Music in Pennsylvania. He would like to major in vocal performance/music education. His parents are James Riley and Sharon Agnes Comstock.

Anderson is a senior at Fort Osage High School and is a member of the National Technical Society and the National Honor Society; received a letter in soccer; achieved perfect attendance; has been named to the “A” Honor Roll throughout high school; has shown art at the Art Gallery Children’s Art Show; was named Most Valuable Player in soccer and was voted Best Artist of the senior class.

In addition, he is a member of the Anime Club; participates on the varsity soccer team; is a volunteer for the Blue Springs Community Theatre; is a graduate of the Caleb Bingham Summer Art Program and is an art club volunteer for the Christmas Bizarre.

Anderson would like to attend the OTIS College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Calif. He would like to study animation for movies and cartoons or video-game designing. His parents are Cynthia R. Maroney and Jack C. Anderson.

Ekey is a senior at William Chrisman High School and is a recipient of the McCoy Award; has been named to the honor roll throughout high school and is a member of the National Honor Society.

In addition, he participates on the basketball and soccer teams; is a member of the Student Council; is senior class president and president of FBLA and is involved with the newspaper and yearbook staffs.
Ekey plans on attending Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. to play basketball. His major is undecided. His mother is Jill Ekey.
