Susanne Mitko, Missouri and Lee’s Summit Teacher of the Year, will be honored at a community reception next month.

The event is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Stansberry Leadership Center, 301 N.E. Tudor Road. The event, hosted by the Lee’s Summit School District, is open to the public and will include a brief presentation at 5 p.m.

She is beginning her sixth year of teaching seventh-grade social studies at Bernard Campbell Middle School and has taught for 18 years.
