Billie “Abe” Jefferson Cooper, 84, Independence, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012.

Billie was born August 13, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Francis M. and Beulah M. (Clark) Cooper. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Billie retired from Vendo Company in the late 1980s. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and BBQ cooking. Billie was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Cooper in 2011; sister, Katherine “Corky” O’Hare; and his parents.

Survivors include his son, Jeff Cooper; daughter, Nancy Cooper; sister-in-law, Patricia Gavin; and his faithful companion, Scooter.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
