The Cub Care Learning Center in Blue Springs is hosting a carnival this weekend to raise money for an outdoor classroom.

The event is Friday at the Hall McCarter Education Center, 5000 N.W. Valley View Road in Blue Springs.

The mission of the Cub Care Learning Center is to end the cycle of illiteracy and teen pregnancies. The facility offers child care and parenting resources that help parents in reaching the goals they have set for themselves. The funds raised from the carnival, which also include a silent auction and raffle, will help create an outdoor classroom at the school.

Research confirms that children who experience and outdoor classroom environment benefit in a variety of areas, including creativity and development. The project has already started with grant funds, but additional money is needed to complete the classroom.
