It’s plenty warm this afternoon, and it’s possible that the area could have record heat Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says this afternoon’s high will be 85, and it will fall back to the mid-60s tonight. The Kansas City record for April 25 is 91, set in 1989. Records are kept at Kansas City International Airport, and Wednesday’s forecast high for that area is 91. (In Eastern Jackson County, the forecast high is 89.)

After that, Thursday brings a high of 81 and the beginning of three days with a chance of rain and thunderstorms.
