A successful Raytown baseball season is over.

A successful Raytown baseball season is over.

Visiting Liberty scored in each of the opening five innings on the way to a 9-5 Class 4 sectional victory over Raytown at Robinson School Tuesday.

Lucas Norton singled and hit a solo homer, Taylor Uhlman also had a solo homer and Braden Brown three singles in pacing Liberty (26-5).

Clayton Hugill singled twice with two RBIs, Danton Maddox singled and doubled and Michael Babbitt singled twice for Raytown (17-12).

Matt Burnaugh was the losing pitcher. Robby Henrichs posted the win.

Liberty’s 6-2 lead after three innings was too much for Raytown to overcome.

“They had three unearned runs,” Raytown coach Jaime Oyler said “But it was a good season. I was very proud of them. We did something we hadn’t done in 30 years in winning a district title.”

Liberty will host Suburban Big Six rival and co-champion Raymore-Peculiar in a quarterfinal game Thursday.

Raymore-Peculiar defeated Blue Springs South 7-4 Tuesday.
