Most of the metro area, including Eastern Jackson County, is just outside the area of Missouri and Kansas considered at the highest risk of severe weather this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service says heavy thunderstorms – possibly with hail and tornadoes – are most likely south of a line from Olathe to Harrisonville. Still, the rest of the area is at a slight of those storms, too.

In Eastern Jackson County, there’s a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon and a 70 percent chance tonight. It will be sunny Saturday with a high near 70, and then a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms returns Sunday.
