The Blue Springs boys tennis team took home three medals in Friday’s Blue Springs Tournament to earn a third-place finish at Santa Fe Trail Park.

The Blue Springs boys tennis team took home three medals in Friday’s Blue Springs Tournament to earn a third-place finish at Santa Fe Trail Park.

Lee’s Summit West totaled 29 points to edge Barstow (27) for the team title. The Wildcats were third with 21 points followed by Warrensburg (19), St. Joseph Central (13), Pembroke Hill (13) and William Chrisman (10).

Max Martell notched the top individual finish for Blue Springs by going 2-1 and finishing second in B singles. In A singles, Tyler Casey was 2-1 and ended third. The Cats’ B doubles team of Chad Stohlmann and Ashton Rhodes also finished 2-1 to come in third.

For Chrisman, Ignaucio Villenueva recorded the top individual finish at B singles by going 1-2 for fourth place. In A singles, Nic Hurt went 1-2 and finished sixth.

LIBERTY NORTH 6, TRUMAN 3: Three singles victories weren’t enough to propel Truman past Liberty North.

North took the three doubles matches to earn the victory.

Truman singles winners were Mason Short, David Franklin and Zach Felz.

GRAIN VALLEY 8, ODESSA 1: Grain Valley evened its Missouri River Valley Conference West record at 3-3 with the easy home victory.

Theo Nichols, Lane Elliott, Cody Zeigler, John Travers, Sebastian Coons and Michael Otsubo were the Grain Valley winners.

STALEY 5, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 4: Staley used four singles victories to edge the visiting Broncos.

Austin Nichols and Nate Hendrickson prevailed in singles and the teams of Rob Durbin and Robbie Sauer and Andrew Lam and Derek Schoenberg triumphed in doubles.
