He has been ordered to undergo mental health treatment.

A Kansas City man who carjacked a woman at the AMC Theaters parking lot is incompetent to stand trial, according to a recent mental evaluation report.

Byron L. Jamison, 24, is ordered to get treatment from the Missouri Department of Mental Health until he’s found competent to continue court proceedings, according to Jackson County Circuit Judge John Torrence.

Jamison, in December 2007, allegedly pulled a small-caliber gun on two women in the AMC parking lot and stole a red 2007 Saturn Vue from them.

After the theft, the women approached an off-duty Independence police officer who was working security at the theaters. The officer called dispatch and officers caught up to Jamison at Jackson Drive and 39th Street, but Jamison fled from the officers and was finally pulled over in Grain Valley and surrendered.

Jamison also allegedly tried to carjack a woman in the parking lot of Independence Center right before the AMC robbery.

Prosecutors charged him with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of resisting arrest.
