Several police and fire departments are investigating a crash on Intertstate 70 just west of Sterling Avenue this afternoon.

Emergency crews reopened the eastbound lane of Interstate 70 shortly before 6 p.m. Friday following a crash that seriously injured a driver.

The collision, which involved three vehicles, closed the lane and stopped traffic for a few hours, according to Kansas City police.

The incident occurred just west of Sterling Avenue, and vehicles were diverted down Interstate 435.

A westbound pickup truck reportedly crashed into and then over the median wall into the eastbound lanes, rolling over and striking another truck and a tractor-trailer.

The driver of the truck was seriously injured. A child in the same truck, fastened in a child safety seat, was not injured. Names were not being released Friday night. The crash is under investigation.
