Blue Springs Police Department conducted two additional underage drinking enforcement actions, citing three local stores in violation.

On Dec. 30, between the hours of 5-8:30 p.m. the department sent an underage young man into 16 different establishments that sell alcoholic beverages, according to a press release issued by the Blue Springs Police Department.

The young man was instructed to present his actual identification, and to be honest about his age if asked.

Of the 16 businesses contacted on Dec. 30, two sold alcoholic beverages to the 18-year-old young man.

The two stores were Minor’s Market, Phillips 66, on Coronado Drive and Valero on Northwest Woods Chape Road.

A second operation was conducted on Jan. 7 between the hours of 5-8:30 p.m.

On this occasion the department sent two underage persons, one 18-year-old female and one 18-year-old male, into 11 businesses that sell alcohol beverages. In this action, as in the one conducted on Dec. 30, 2008, both subjects were instructed to use their actual identification, and be honest if asked about their age.

On this date only one business, Wise Guys Bar and Grill on Woods Chapel Road, sold alcoholic beverages to the subjects.

Blue Springs Police Chief Wayne McCoy said he feels strongly that the enforcement of the underage drinking laws is important not only to protect our children but to protect the general public as well.
