Jerald D. Norfolk, 71, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on May 19, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2010, at St. John LaLande Catholic Church (805 NW R.D. Mize, Blue Springs, Mo).  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Ron Elliott as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, Knights of Columbus Council #6506 and Boy Scout Troop 362.

Jerry was born on May 3, 1939, in New Cambria, Missouri, the son of the late Harold L. and Ruby F. ( Roberts) Norfolk.  He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and Physics.  He taught Math and Science in Pattonsburg, Mo., and then for Hickman Mills School District for a total of 10 years.  He then went to work for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Kansas City, Mo., as a gas control analyst for 17 years.  He retired after working for the NOWCC division of the EPA in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Jerry was an active member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church where he served often as lector.  In 1980, he chartered the Heart of America Council Boy Scout Troop 362, and was their first Scout Master.  He was also active in the Knights of Columbus Council #6506.

Jerry leaves behind his wife of nearly 44 years, Judith A. (Thrasher) Norfolk of the home; children, Christina D. Miller & husband, Michael of Blue Springs, Mo., Mark J. Norfolk of Grain Valley, Mo., Philip A. Norfolk & wife, Marilyn, of Olive Branch, MS; siblings, Charles Norfolk & wife, Merle, of Diamondhead, MS, Donna Poppa & husband, Harold, of Bertram, TX, Larry Norfolk & wife, Elizabeth of Mansfield Center, CT, Ronald Norfolk & wife, Barb of Alvin, TX; and seven beloved grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Norfolk, and Seth, Caleb, Paige, Nathan, and Lillian Miller.
