Ed McGrane scored the game-winning goal for the Mavericks as they improved to 8-5-2 on the season. Missouri is tied for second place in the Turner Conference, trailing only the Evansville IceMen.

“The team made the six-hour trip to Moline on the game day for the first time, and I am proud of them and the strong team effort,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said. “Everyone did what they needed to do and worked hard. Hopefully they will relax now and get ready for a big week against Dayton.”

Missouri will take on the Dayton Gems for three games in three nights this week, beginning with an away game Thursday and back-to-back home games at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Independence Events Center.

The Mavericks trailed 1-0 when Dale Mahovsky scored his ninth goal of the season.
McGrane scored the game-winning goal at the 5:48 mark of the third period for his fifth goal of the season and second game winner.

Effinger made a handful a big saves for the remainder of the third period including a penalty shot by Mallards forward Brandon Marino.
