Upcoming federal environmental regulations and their potential effect on Independence Power & Light have been a topic of discussion at recent City Council study sessions, and it’s on the agenda again for Monday night.

That meeting starts at 6 p.m. inside the council chambers at City Hall, 111 E. Maple Ave. The last update on those environmental requirements took place in March, at which time Mayor Don Reimal said a potential cost increase could be associated with mandatory regulations. IPL officials estimate that a majority of the regulations won’t go in effect for several years, allowing time to prepare on a local level.

Other agenda topics Monday include:

Sanitary sewer improvements overview, Public Works Department.

Groundwater Guardian, Water Department.

Neighborhood Stabilization Program update, Community Development Department.
