Five members of the Independence chapter of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly recently received their Century Medallions for keeping off 100 pounds or more for a year.

Sue Giles

Giles joined TOPS on May 5, 2006. She lost 125 pounds and reached her TOPS goal in 2007. She was crowned Chapter Queen, and on April 17, 2008, was named State of Missouri Queen. She represented her state at International Recognition Day held in Chicago, Ill.


Diane Thomas

Thomas joined TOPS on Feb. 9, 2006. She lost 125 pounds. She became an honored Keeping Pounds off Sensibly member on Aug. 14, 2008. She represented her chapter as Queen and was a State of Missouri Runner-Up.


Susan Bowser

Bowser joined TOPS in 1975. She was a first time KOPS in 1980. She lost 130 pounds and was Division 9, First Place Winner, for the State of Missouri. Susan received her Century Medallion in 2010.


Tina Gallup

Gallup joined TOPS on Sept. 15, 2004. She reached her goal on Dec. 29, 2005 and became a KOPS. Tina lost 137 pounds. She was Chapter Queen and Missouri Queen in 2005.

Leann Van Artsdalin

Van Artsdalin joined TOPS on March 18, 2009. She has lost 135.5 pounds. Leann has received another TOPS charm for 25 pounds lost.


The Independence TOPS chapter meets from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays at Farview Restoration Church, 11404 E. 24th Street S., Independence.
