Blue Springs South has its biggest boys soccer victory of the season.

Josh Tate scored two goals as the host Jaguars (5-5, 1-4) stunned Lee’s Summit 2-0 Monday night in a Suburban Big Six game.

“It was a great win for us,” South coach Jon Grice said. “We needed a conference win and got it against one of the better teams in the conference. We probably played our best game. It was an all-around team effort and showed anything is possible if you go out and execute the game plan.”

Tate scored in the 24th minute and followed with an insurance with 15 minutes remaining.

The junior varsity teams played to a 0-0 tie.

GRAIN VALLEY 8, HOLDEN 0: Michael Pellmam scored three goals and Spencer Picard knocked in two to power visiting Grain Valley to an easy Missouri River Valley Conference victory.

Jake Desell, Quinn Van Camp and Preston Weigerl scored the other goals for the Eagles (2-6, 1-4).

Five second half goals enabled Grain Valley to break open the game.

“Grain Valley came out strong after a week of rest,” coach Jon Thompson said. “We improved on the mistakes we had made and played with intensity and speed tonight.”
