Blue Springs South posted a 3-1 record and placed fifth in the Columbia Hickman Softball Tournament.

Blue Springs went 2-2 and was 10th.

South (18-6) defeated Ursuline Academy 13-3, Kirksville 9-1 and Southern Boone 3-1 and lost to Jefferson City 4-2.

The Jaguars outscored and outhit their opponents 27-9 and 41-15, respectively.

“It was great team offense and defense,” South coach Vickie Brummel said. “Everyone, including subs, scored a run.

Hitting leaders were Brooke Parker, 7 for 14, Kelly Vogt, 5 for 9, and Kelsey Dean, 4 for 8.

Blue Springs (17-5) opened with a 3-2 loss to Parkway West. Kelsey Kessler suffered the loss.

Kessler then spaced four hits and struck out 12 in an 8-0 Blue Springs victory over Neosho. Kelsey Brady singled three times and Kristin Heil singled and doubled with two RBIs.

A five-run seventh inning carried the Wildcats to a 6-2 victory over Columbia Hickman. Heil had three doubles with two RBIs. Kessler struck out 10 for the win.
Then the Wildcats fell to Troy 3-2.

Troy scored two runs on four consecutive hit after two outs and two strikes on the ninth place hitter. Morgan McMahan and Madison Hood each singled twice for the Wildcats.
