Lindsey Huber, Jacob Colyer, Zac Zumwalt and Lexi Salva have been named Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Lindsey Huber, Jacob Colyer, Zac Zumwalt and Lexi Salva have been named Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Huber is a senior at Fort Osage High School. She has received the Outstanding Junior Student Council Award; is Student Council president; served as Recording Secretary for the Student Council during the 2010-11 school year and has been named to the honor roll throughout high school.

In addition, she is a member of the yearbook staff.

In the future, Huber plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and become a nurse practitioner. Her parents are Cheryl and John Huber.

Colyer is a senior at Fort Osage High School. He has received the Exemplary Attendance Award for three years; received the Honorable Mention All-Fort Osage Award and was a Student of the Month for two years.

In addition, he is a member of the Varsity Cross Country and Track teams; has been a member of the Touch of Class Choir for two years; is a member of the Wind Ensemble; has completed requirements for the Eagle Award; is a sectional squad leader for band and choir and has held a variety of position in Band Council.

In the future, Colyer plans to attend MU and major in mechanical engineering. His parents are David and Karen Colyer.

Zumwalt is a senior at William Chrisman and has been named a CharacterPlus Student of the Month; earned an academic letter and was named Sophomore of the Month.

In addition, he is a member of the French Club and Character Council and is a tutor.

In the future, Zumwalt plans to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City to enter the school’s six-year medical program or the College of the Ozarks to enter into its pre-medicine program. He wants to become a doctor. His parents are Bruce Zumwalt, Leanne Zumwalt and Barbara Zumwalt. His guardians are Nichelle Spinner and Chad Sanders.

Salva is a senior at William Chrisman and is a recipient of the McCoy Award; is a Youth LEAD alumni; is secretary of the National Honor Society; earned an award for the Most Innovative Business Plan in Youth Entrepreneurs; was named Academic All-State in volleyball; earned all-conference honors and has been named to the Principal Honor’s Roll throughout high school.

In addition, she is a member of the Varsity Volleyball team; is secretary of the Student Council and is member of STOMP Out Bullying, the Blue and Gold Chamber Choir and the Spanish Club.

In the future, Salva plans to attend college and play volleyball while completing the pre-veterinary medicine field of study.

Following, she wants to apply to veterinary school and study abroad to become a zoo veterinarian. Her parents are Joe and Lora Salva.
