Down six runs with four innings to play, the Blue Springs Post 499/Fike junior Legion team didn’t flinch.

Fike rallied from an 8-2 deficit, scoring 10 runs over the final four innings to top Sedalia Post 642 13-9 to claim the Zone 2 Tournament championship Saturday at Legends Field in Sedalia.

Four more came in during the seventh to force extra innings as Andrew Tritch and Cale Benson drove in runs with singles. Reece Eddins brought in another run with a fielder’s choice grounder to short and Trevor Wendleton tied the game with a single.

Benson finished 5-for-6 with three RBIs.

Sedalia loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Fike (37-4) weaved its way out of the frame unharmed.

In the ninth, Eddins doubled and scored on Caleb Humphreys single. Nick Mentes made it 11-9 with an RBI single, J.J. Kirwin drove in a run with a bunt and Cameron Miller executed a squeeze bunt for another run.

Again, Sedalia loaded the bases in the ninth with just one out, but Humphreys tallied a strike out and coaxed a fly ball to clinch the title.
