Leroy Wayne Castle died July 10, 2012, at his home in Burlington, Kan.

Lee was born October 24, 1951, to Floyd and Cora Castle. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1969, where he lettered in both basketball and football. He was also actively involved in Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. After graduation, Lee began working for Southwestern Bell and remained there for seventeen years. He then began subcontracting work with various telecommunications companies and traveled the United States. He loved living in Colorado and Idaho, where he spent much of his life as an avid outdoorsman and adventurer, mountain climbing, snowshoeing, hiking, hunting, skiing and fishing. He was gifted in sharing his love for the outdoors through photography. He enjoyed encouraging and fostering the love of nature in his siblings, nephews, nieces, and many friends, by encouraging them to hike or get involved in other outdoor activities so they could also enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Cora Castle, and his brother, Dale Castle.

Surviving are his five sisters, Karen Armstrong of Greenwood, Mo., Linda Gordon of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Janet Castle of Independence, Mo., State Rep. B.J. (Betty) Nikkel of Loveland, Colo., and Laurie Houston of LeRoy, Kan.; and stepmother, Rosalie Castle of Burlington, Kan.

A graveside memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Graceland Cemetery in Burlington, Kan. Family and friends will gather afterwards for fellowship and food at the 4-H Hall at 605 S. 3rd Street, Burlington.
