Jackson County officials remind owners of individual and business personal property that the deadline is May 1 for all personal property owned or held on Jan. 1 to be reported to the county Assessment Department.

In January each year, the department mails a declaration form to report all taxable personal property, with a reminder in March to property owners who haven’t yet filed their declaration of property. Forms can be mailed in or completed online at www.jacksongov.org. There is a late filing fee of $10 $100 for missing the deadline.

Those who have moved or who have questions about the declaration form should contact the Assessment Department. For individual personal property questions, call 816-881-1330. For business personal property questions, call 816-881-4672. Questions also can be emailed to assessment@jacksongov.org.
