Bolyne L. Truax died April 24, 2009
Bolyne L. Truax, 85, Independence, MO passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center.
Bolyne was born January 12, 1924 in Pinehurst, GA the daughter of Bolin and Lucy Mae (Hawkins) Leaptrot. After her father’s death, her mother moved the family to Gainesville, GA when she was nine. She graduated from Gainesville High School at the age of 16. She then attended Tift College for two years. Bolyne moved to Washington D.C. in 1942 to earn money to go back to College. She met Allan Truax while in Washington. He proposed to her at the Jefferson Memorial. They were married on May 22, 1943. They continued to live in the Washington D.C. area until 1978. While in Washington Bolyne worked at the Pentagon as a Secretary in the Department of Defense for three years. She also worked as a Typist for Mr. Harry Price while writing a book on the Marshall Plan. Her son Ken was born September 29, 1951. She and her husband Allan were active members of the Falls Church Virginia Church of Christ and very involved in World Wide Missions. She was a Bible School Teacher, as well as supporting her husband Allan as he served as an Elder for many years. Bolyne went back to work as a Secretary in 1966 to help pay for Ken to attend Abilene Christian College. She and Allan move to Round Rock, TX in 1978 and lived there until 1989, when they moved to Lee’s Summit to be near their family. Bolyne continued her involvement in World Wide Missions by working many years in the World Bible School Programs. Her legacy however is not the things she has done, rather the impact she had on so many people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan in 1998 and her parents. Survivors include her son Ken Truax and his wife Claudia of Independence; grandchildren, Daniel Truax and his wife Michelle of Independence and Amy Truax of Wellington, MO; great grandchildren Indigo and Zoe Truax of Independence; and sister Jeanne Avery of Austin, TX.
Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at East Independence Church of Christ, 2020 S. 291 Hwy, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. Burial will be in National Memorial Park Cemetery, Falls Church, VA.
