M&I works to aid City Union Mission

The M&I Bank location at 18811 E. Valley View Parkway in Independence is holding a toilet paper drive through June 9 to benefit City Union Mission. The public is invited to donate in the bank’s lobby during regular business hours. Also, M&I employees will serve meals at City Union Mission on June 9. The efforts are part of the company’s Community Day, during which employees are mobilized to help the communities in which they work.


Builders honored

Ceco Building Systems has honored two local companies for their sales:

Rothwell Construction of Blue Springs was recognized for achieving $250,000 in sales in 2008 and $250,000 in sales in 2009. S&H Construction of Oak Grove was recognized for achieving $250,000 in sales in 2010.


Target earnings up

Target Corporation reported earnings of $689 million, or 99 cents a share, for the  quarter ending April 30, compared with $671 million, or 90 cents a share, in the same quarter in 2010. The Minneapolis, Minn., based company has 1,755 stores, including Independence and Blue Springs.
