Janette Cooley, principal at Pleasant Lea Middle School, was named Middle School Principal of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principals Association.

Janette Cooley, principal at Pleasant Lea Middle School, was named Middle School Principal of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principals Association. She will now go on to compete for the state award from the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Cooley has served as Pleasant Lea principal since 2005 and previously worked as assistant principal at both Lee’s Summit West and Lee’s Summit high schools. She was also an administrative intern at both Summit Lakes and Pleasant Lea middle schools.

She has served as an officer for the Greater Kansas City Missouri Principals Association, including a recent term as president. In 2007-08, she received the association’s Exemplary New Principal Award.
