The following items were taken from the May 21 through 27, 1911, Examiner.


The Independence Golf Club is preparing to build a commodious and tasteful club house at the golf grounds. The plan is to by an acre of ground from Mr. Gatesand to make it the social centre for the club. The course is a most excellent on, nine holes, and every afternoon members of the club and their friends may be found earnestly working around the course and enjoying it very finely.

The temperance prize essay entertainment will be held in the high school auditorium. The following essays will be read: Arthur McKim, high school;Julia McDonald, 8th grade; Dorothy Clark, 7th grade; Julia Cole,2nd grade; and Vivi Lee Proffitt,1st grade.
