Robert Paul Palmer, 56 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at his home on March 19, 2011.

Robert Paul Palmer, 56 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at his home on March 19, 2011.

Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Anita; mother, Graycemae Crawford, of Independence, Missouri; stepfather, Gene Crawford, of Osceola, Missouri; son, Ryan Palmer, of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter, Angela Palmer, of Kansas City, Missouri; stepsons, Dale Roth, of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Michael Roth, of Tama, Iowa; stepdaughter, Heather (Jacob) Tuttle, of Belle Plaine, Iowa; brother, David (Leslie) Crawford, of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Charli, Christopher, Aaron, Austin, Rachel, Hannah, Nolan, Hope and Jaice. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews and several cousins.

Rob was born on September 6, 1954, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Robert G. and Graycemae(Foreman) Palmer. He was a 1972 graduate of Van Horn High School.  He graduated with an Associate’s degree in electronics from Maple Woods Community College. After graduation he worked at Kings Radio and then at Kansas City Water/Pollution Control, where he was a supervisor.  In 1995, he moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked at PMX Industries and then General Mills. Rob loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially going to car shows where he raced and also was a spectator.  He was a Mustang enthusiast and enjoyed working on his cars and racing.  If he were here, he would give a shout to all his buddies to “win one for me”. He lived life like there was no tomorrow.  Rob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Palmer.

Memorial Services will Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
