For the fourth consecutive year,  the Grain Valley girls tennis team is the Missouri River Valley Conference Tournament champion.

“We got all nine in the finals and six were champions,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said. “I was real pleased with the kids. They got some awards they deserve. They have had a great year.”

Nathalia Barr, Jessica Dornes and Mariah Hernandez were singles champions. Lanae Wilke and Barr, Haley Porter and Darby Scharfenkamp and Dornes and Hernandez teamed up for doubles titles.

The Eagles took the team title at Odessa Thursday with 48 points. Higginsville was second with 38.

BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 8, RAYMORE-PECULIAR 1: Blue Springs South ended the regular season by defeating host Raymore-Peculiar and finishing second in the Suburban Big Six.

Morgan Clarke, Madison McCulloch, Liia Butler, Leah Bell, Isabella Bowling, Erica McClain and Jordan Burns accounted for the South victories.

“Ray-Pec has a great team and  great court etiquette, but tonight we took center stage,” South coach Craig Dierking said.

BLUE SPRINGS 5, LEE’S SUMMIT 4: Blue Springs wrapped up an 8-5 regular season and third place in the Suburban Big Six with the victory. The junior varsity rolled 9-0.

Earlier this week, the Wildcats bested Liberty 6-3 and Raymore-Peculiar 8-1.

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 8, LEE’S SUMMIT WEST: Lee’s Summit North defeated rival Lee’s Summit West to finish the regular season with a 12-2 record.

Vilune Sestokaite, Jenna Jefferson, Camryn Parnell, Christina Leeper and Anna Welsh prevailed in singles to assure North of the victory.
