He was born February 18, 1935, in Washington, DC, to Charles Middleton Wilson and Flora Evelyn Barnes. As a child, he lived in several states: MD, AK, KS, TX, and MO. He was very proud of the fact that he financed all his high school and college education, graduating from the School of the Ozarks in 1953. While there, he served as vice-president of his class and Student Body President during his senior year. He attended the University of Missouri from 1953 to 1955. Russ graduated from UMKC in 1967, with a degree in economics and then obtained broker licenses in real estate and insurance. Russ lived most of his adult life in Independence, MO. He was a leading agent and a staff manager for several large insurance companies and a marketing manager for two building supply companies. He had his own rental business for over twenty years, called Wilson Sales and Rental Company. Russ was one of the original founders of the Boy’s Club in Independence and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He joined the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in 1955 and was a member for over 25 years at the Blue Ridge Boulevard Christian Church in Independence.  Russ enjoyed spending time with family and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Reva; their two children, Russell E. Wilson and wife, Linda, of Sandy, UT; Laura K.
