Missouri Town 1855 and Jackson County Parks and Recreation will host Children's Day and National Trails Day on Saturday, June 1.

Children can participate in a variety of activities, many of which originated in the 1800s, including tug-of-war, marbles, stilts and sack races. There will also be several craft projects available to work on, including doll making, candle dipping and tin punching, and there will be a pie-eating contest.

Information will also be available about the Jackson County trail system in a special exhibit.

The event runs 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Road on the east side of Lake Jacomo in Lee's Summit. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 5-13 and free for children 4 or younger.
