The Jackson County Legislature will break from the routine on Monday and hold its weekly meeting in Sibley, rather than Independence or Kansas City.

The Legislature meets at 1:30 p.m. at Sibley Orchards. From Independence, take U.S. 24 east to Buckner, and then turn left on Route BB and go north about two miles to Sibley Orchards. It’s right where BB turns west and becomes Blue Mills Road.

From Blue Springs, take Interstate 70 east to Grain Valley, turn north on Route BB and go through Buckner and on to the orchard.

The Legislature also is meeting one hour earlier than its usual 2:30 p.m. start time. Among the items on the agenda is a hearing on the property tax rate for the community mental health fund and the Board of Services for the Developmentally Disabled.
