Not only did Samantha Nightingale win Saturday’s Rim Rock Farm High School Cross Country Classic in Lawrence, Kan., but the Blue Springs South senior made it look easy.

Not only did Samantha Nightingale win Saturday’s Rim Rock Farm High School Cross Country Classic in Lawrence, Kan., but the Blue Springs South senior made it look easy.

Nightingale zipped to a first-place time in the gold division by finishing  the 4,000-meter race in 14:15 and bested the second-place finisher by 21 seconds.

Kayla Shepard (17:22) also finished 110th for South while Jordan Gette (18:03) came in 156th. Blue Springs runners Mikayla Greisbauer (18:14) and Hannah Downie (18:16) finished 164th and 165th, respectively.

College Park seized the team title in the gold division by recording 104 points.

Grain Valley posted a 12th-place team finish in the blue division with 295 points while Fort Osage (590) finished 24th. The Jaguars were 17th in the 30-team gold field.

Freshman Kayla Sanning (17:16) registered the best time for the Eagles by finishing 47th. Kelsie Schrader came in 55th. Brittany Weir led Fort Osage with a 98th-place finish.

The Blue Springs boys squad notched a ninth-place finish in the gold division by tallying 336 points. Rockhurst (131) finished first.

Truman’s Justin Brown ended as the top local finisher by coming in 12th place with a time of 16:07 in the 5,000-meter race. Simon Belete (16:29) led the Wildcats with a 25th-place finish.

Fort Osage (367) ended 11th in the gold divison while Grain Valley (459) finished 20th. Smithville (116) notched the top finish.

Joe Kidd paced the Indians with a fourth-place time of 16:54. Josh Amos led Grain Valley by finishing with a 15th-place time of 17:23.
