Bryan Poertner assisted on goals by Josh Tate and Austin Chavez as visiting Blue Springs South defeated Pembroke Hill 2-1.

“After last night (2-0 win over Lee’s Summit), we were pretty exhausted,” South coach Jon Grice said. “But the kids  fought it out and came out with result we wanted.”
Both goals for South (6-5) came in the opening 35 minutes.

South was a 2-0 junior varsity winner.

PARK HILL SOUTH 4, FORT OSAGE 2: Park Hill South has assumed the favorite’s role in boys soccer in the Suburban Middle Seven Conference.

The host Panthers (7-0 conference) snapped a 2-2 halftime tie with two second-half goals for a key victory.

“We stayed with them for about 60 minutes,” Fort Osage coach Andrew Fletcher said. “They are such a good team. Tyler Gage had some huge saves that kept us in the game.”

Billy Vigil and Richmond Forbis scored the goals for Fort Osage (11-2, 4-1).
Fort Osage fell 3-1 in the junior varsity game.

BARSTOW 1, VAN HORN 0: A goal in the opening minute stood up for the Crossroads Conference victory by host Barstow.

“We weren’t mentally prepared and they scored in the first minute,” Van Horn coach Chris Corrie said.

Matt Summey stopped seven other shots to no avail as Van Horn fell to 3-8.

RAYTOWN 4, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: Raytown scored two goals in each half for a Suburban Middle Seven victory.

Vincente Garcia’s two goals led the Blue Jays. Chrisman fell to 3-10 and 1-4.
