The Blue Springs Police Department is looking for assistance on locating the suspect or suspects involved in recent increase of stolen vehicles and/or theft from vehicles.

Over the past three weeks there have been five stolen vehicles and 38 vehicles break-ins, according to a press release issued by the department.

Most of the vehicle break-ins had their windows broken out and contents stolen. The area of increased police activity, and where police are looking for assistance, is St. Mary’s Medical Center and the surrounding subdivisions.

Several of the thefts have occurred in these areas.

Police told The Examiner earlier this week that while several vehicles have been targets, several Ford F-150 trucks have been vandalized

“We all work very hard for the things we own,” Chief Wayne McCoy said in the release. “It’s just not right that unscrupulous people stoop to the level to take what is not theirs. We would appreciate any information residents might have to help us put a stop to the recent vehicle theft incidents.”

McCoy warns residents that the milder weather may invite opportunistic crimes and to take valuables out of vehicles parked in driveways and parking lots.
