Despite a rumble or two, today’s rains are not expected to include heavy thunderstorms. Overall, severe weather is not in the area forecast this week, though southern Missouri is experiencing a good deal of localized flooding.

The rain is expected through this evening in the metro area, up to a half inch for the day. The National Weather Service forecast says it will be sunny Tuesday, cloudy Wednesday and sunny again Thursday, but it won’t hit 70 until Friday. Overnight lows are not expected to dip below the 40s.

The Missouri River is high in the St. Joseph, but no flooding is expected in the Kansas City area. Though high, the river crested over the weekend at Napoleon and Waverly downstream from Eastern Jackson County. The Little Blue River, measured at Lake City, remains well below flood stage and fell during the weekend.
