Andrew Courtney will represent the Missouri Mavericks in the CHL All-Star Game Jan. 11 at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

He joins a list of Maverick all-stars that includes forward Jeff Christian, who was named to the squad in the Mavs’ first season, and goaltender Robbie Nolan and forward Nick Sirota last season. Mavericks coach Scott Hillman was an all-star coach in 2010.

Courtney has played in 25 games this season and has 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points and is +3 on the season +/- category.

“It’s a great honor to be selected, especially when there are a lot of guys in our locker room who deserve the honor just as much as I do,” Courtney said Friday from Bloomington, Ill., where the Mavs played the Blaze.

“I’d trade the honor for a better record this season. We’re struggling right now, but we have enough talent that I know we can turn things around.”

The Mavericks are 13-12-3 after a 6-0 start. One of the most frustrating parts of the season for Courtney and his teammates has been their 3-7-1 record at home.

The Mavericks play host to Texas at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in a New Year’s Eve game at the Independence Events Center.

“Our fans are the best, and deserve better than what we’ve been able to give them this year,” Courtney said. “We get so excited about playing at home – no one can figure out why we don’t have a better home record. But we are going to give it all we’ve got Saturday night to start the new year off right.”

In just two seasons, Courtney has made a name for himself around the league and he is looking forward to playing with some of the CHL’s other all stars.

“I can’t wait to see how I stack up against the other all stars in the league,” Courtney said. “It should be a great night. I can’t wait.”
