Jerry E. Osborn, 81, Independence, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Jerry was born May 9, 1930, in Seymour, Iowa, the son of Theodore Robert and Ethel Mae (Casteel) Osborn. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Jerry served 23 years with the Independence Fire Department, retiring in 1975. He later worked for Orscheln’s as a delivery driver. Jerry was also employed with Lake City Ammunition and the Kansas City School District. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #76 and a past member of the American Legion. Jerry enjoyed hunting, gardening, collecting antique cars and model cars, knives and piggy banks and he loved his dogs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ward Osborn, and his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mona Osborn of 42 years; daughter, Wendy Gambell; son, Michael Osborn; grandchildren, Kerri Atwood, Kelli Lewis and Aaron Gambell; great-grandchildren, Kaitlun Atwood, Ashtun McLaren, Tayten Lewis and Chloe Beltran.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial to follow at Mount Washington Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m.
