Jasper “Jay” M. Gimmarro, 75, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Jasper “Jay” M. Gimmarro, 75, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Jay was born June 7, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Paul and Pauline (Palermo) Gimmarro. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by a son. Joe Gimmarro, and three sisters, Virginia Roberts, Margaret DeGrado and Nancy LaBella.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vesta (Crumm) Gimmarro of the home, a son, Steven Gimmarro, and two daughters, Patricia Schollmeyer and Staci Hayes, all of Blue Springs, Mo.; three brothers, Paul Gimmarro of Blue Springs, Mo., Carl Gimmarro of Grain Valley Mo., and Joseph Gimmarro of Ann Arbor, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and doctors of the St. Luke’s Heart Institute and Bishop Spencer Place for their loving care of Jay.

A funeral Mass with the celebration of Jay’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to Mass. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Father James Taranto will be the celebrant.

Memorial contribution may be made to the church.
