A fine  season continues for the Truman boys tennis team.

The Patriots improved to 9-3 on the 7-2 victory over visiting Liberty North Thursday.

“It was a great win against a solid team,” Truman coach Tara Corwin said.

Matt Perry, Zach Felz, David Franklin and Mason Short posted Truman singles victories. Doubles decisions by Chase Ruddell and Felz, Perry and Franklin and Short and Andy Muelleman gave Truman the victory.

“Mason Short had another night with a 10-1 victory over his opponent and paired with Muelleman to put up another great win 10-6,” Corwin said.

“The Truman boys are staying focused in becoming a very reputable team in a very tough conference and district.”

OAK PARK 7, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 2: The return of No. 1 singles player McKay Paialii wasn’t enough for visiting William Chrisman.

Paialii, though, prevailed in his singles match and teamed with Anthony Laughlin for a No 1 doubles victory.

“It was good to have McKay back,” Chrisman coach Nathan Mooney said “He played pretty good for being out for three weeks.”

An illness forced Paialii to spend two weeks in the hospital.

Oak Park prevailed 8-1 in the junior varsity match.

STALEY 7, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 2: Five singles victories lifted visiting Staley to the victory.

Andrew Dominick prevailed in No. 1 singles and Robbie Sauer and Rob Durbin prevailed in No. 3 doubles for the only Bronco victories.

“One bright spot for the Broncos was an outstanding match by Dominick,” coach Stuart Reece said. “It was his most complete victory over the season. He played a smart, consistent match.”

North rolled 9-0 in the junior varsity match.
