Three-term incumbent Brian Yates, R-Lee’s Summit, and Chris Ruggles, D-Lee’s Summit, will compete for a seat Nov. 4 in the 56th District in the Missouri House of Representatives.

In terms of money raised, however, there is little competition, with Yates maintaining a 6-to-1 advantage over Ruggles in total fundraising for the general election, $59,468.04 to $10,540.54.

According to the eight-day-before election reports filed Oct. 28, Yates had $46,186.31 on hand at the start of the reporting period, which began Oct. 1. He has raised $13,500 during October and spent $319.31, with $250 going to the campaign salary of Christopher Dale of Pleasant Hill.

Ruggles had raised $5,315 during October and spent $1,638.30, with $350 going to the campaign salary of John Mayfield of Independence and $1,238.30 used for printing costs. According to the eight-day before election report filed Oct. 27, Ruggles had $4,071.50 on hand at the start of the reporting period, Oct. 1.
