The Burr Oak Woods Nature Center is hosting a nature movie festival this Saturday.

It’s from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes documentaries and short movies as well as two longer movies.

At 11 a.m., “A Sense of Wonder,” tells the story of Rachel Carson, the environmental activist best known for the book “Silent Spring.”

At 1 p.m., there’s a showing of “Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time.” Leopold wrote, among other things, “A Sand County Almanac.”

The event is free. Burr Oak Woods is at 1401 N.W. Park Road, which is west off Missouri 7 in north Blue Springs, past Pink Hill Park.
