Michael J. Winner and Alexander Scott have been selected as Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.

Winner is a senior at St. Mary’s High School and is a member of the National Honor Society; is ranked first in the senior class; earned a 30 on the ACT; was a Missouri Boys’ State participant; has been named to the principal’s honor roll throughout high school; was a 2007 wrestling MVP; is a three-year varsity letterman in wrestling and track; is a four-year varsity letterman in cross country and has been named to the all-state team in track. He is a member of the Science Club and the Spanish Club.

Winner has not decided where to go to college; he plans to major in engineering. His parents are Carolyn Schumacher and James Winner.

Scott is a senior at Fort Osage High School and has been selected for Youth LEAD; was elected president of debate for two consecutive years and has earned various awards during debate competitions.

He plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and would like to major in business. His parents are Victor and Michelle Monteleone.
