The next ACT achievement test will be administered April 4.

Students who would like to take the college admission and placement exam must register by Feb. 27. The late registration deadline is available Feb. 28 to March 13, however there is an extra fee. Students can register online at or pick-up registration forms from high school counseling

April is an ideal time for juniors to take the test. Once scores are received, students can plan their senior coursework to better prepare for college and careers. Students can select to send test scores for free to as many as four colleges or universities during the registration process. Test results can also be sent after the test at an additional cost.

The cost for the exam is $31 for the traditional ACT test and $46 for the ACT Plus Writing. Students should determine whether colleges and universities require the optional writing score.

A list of schools that require the writing test can be found at the ACT Web site,

The exam consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, and takes about three hours. The ACT Plus Writing requires an additional 30 minutes to complete.
