Alice May Ingram died April 24, 2009
Alice May Ingram, 101, peacefully passed away April 24, 2009 at her home in Independence, MO.
Alice was born near Max, Nebraska to Arthur L. Parsons and Mary Foster Parsons.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ingram, sister, Jeannette Weldon, and brothers, Charles, Franklin, Earl and Lyman Parsons.
She is survived by one sister, Elsie Buster; two sons, Jared K. Ingram (Wanda), J. D. Ingram (Donna); daughter, Jewell Fortman (Richard); grandchildren, Jared K. Ingram II, Marc J. Ingram; Jennifer Ingram, Benjamin Ingram (Deborah); Jeffery Agnew; DeAnne Robertson (Keith); Cindi Reyes (Arthur); great-grandchildren, Hope, Andrew and Taylor Agnew; Joshua, Christian and Joel Robertson, Gloria Ingram, Brayden and Brynn Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Alice graduated from Goodland, Kansas High School in 1925 and taught elementary school, (grades one -eight). She rode a horse to school (bareback), built a fire in the stove and taught her classes. She attended Graceland College and received her teaching certificate in 1930, taught school for one year in Lamoni, Iowa, then returned to Kansas to teach. She married her husband Kenneth in 1933, and they lived in Goodland Kansas for 19 years before moving to Pawnee Rock, Kansas, and Kansas City, MO when they sold their home in 1996.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Community of Christ Church, Ridgewood Congregation 4341 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ridgewood Congregation Piano Fund, or to Grace Hospice 9233 Ward Parkway, suite 201 KC MO 64114.
