Aloha! My name is Ribeye, and I want to invite you to come to the Independence PetsMart this weekend. Animals Best Friends is going to have a luau to celebrate the National Pet Adoptathon this weekend.

ABF volunteers will be having a cookout from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For $3, participants will receive a grilled hot dog, chips, pop and a cookie. Proceeds will benefit Animals Best Friends to help homeless kids like me.

Independence Animal Shelter dogs will be at PetsMart from noon until 4 p.m. this weekend to meet the public. If you are looking for a pet to join your family please come out and see these homeless animals. Animals that are adopted from shelters are very grateful for a second chance at life.

Although I live at the ABF facility, I would love to have a home of my very own. I’m not very big and I would learn house manners quickly, as I am allowed to run free in the lobby during the day. I’m four years old, but I still love to romp and play and go for walks.

If you are ready to commit to a pet, please adopt a pet and save a life. Also, please do not overlook older animals. Adult dogs and cats make great pets. Some have good house manners or are easily taught how to behave. They are also mature enough to be less destructive than puppies or kittens.

Animals Best Friends would like to thank everyone who came to our garage sale last Saturday. We really appreciate all of support we receive! Thanks to everyone who donated items, priced items, set up the sale, and cleaned up after the garage sale.

Also, Animals Best Friends wish list includes: dog chow, dog biscuits, rawhides, cow hooves, canned dog and cat food, laundry soap, bleach, Fantastic cleaning spray, paper towels and newspapers. There is a paper recycling bin in the parking lot at ABF Headquarters, 2302 S. Crysler Ave., Independence. Please, no cardboard or telephone books. We appreciate your support.
